How does it work ?

Our balance and reflex support mechanisms are greatly affected by the co-ordination of the neck, head and back, what Alexander identified as <primary control>. The Technique reduces undue tension or collapse that causes loss of the primary control, hence allowing the reflex support mechanism to work effectively, restoring the best possible use of the body. Freedom of movement, easier breathing, natural poise and good posture are restored.
Lessons are most effectively given on a one to one basis. During a lesson, you will be encouraged to release unnecessary tension and will learn how to prevent tension, which habitually occurs when under pressure. This is done while doing simple activities such as standing or sitting, walking or lying down. With increasing awareness of the way you use your body, you can begin to apply the Technique to all activities in life.
>> While a few lessons can make a difference, for continuing self-improvement a minimum of 20 lessons, initially at the rate of 2 lessons per week, is recommended.
